1. 7! = 5040 Assuming we are talking rotation invariant. Fix one person. Then we are essentially arranging the other 7 people and there are 7! ways of doing that.
2. (8-1)! = 7! = 5040 (n-1)! is the general formula for the number of ways n objects can be arranged in a circle.
