Round Conference Tables

Is McCains "sudden" need to go to Washington/WH bail-out meeting a McCain political game?

Most of the bail out discussions have already occurred with the president, congress, the Fed and Secretary Paulson. What can McCain and Obama bring to the table at this stage of the discussion? I think McCain is just trying to change the topic especially considering his record as a "deformer"...Your thoughts?

  1. It absolutely is.
  2. it's mccain's plan of bailing out of a debate that he knows he will lose
  3. If McCain can reschedule the debate to next Thursday, then Pallin won't have to debate with Biden. Good plan, eh? (lol)
  4. answer John McCain used the crisis as a COP OUT The AMERICAN PEOPLE NEED TO HAVE THEM DEBATE now more than ever!! 1 McCain tried to GRANDSTAND during Hurricane Gustav they were going to suspend the RNC to help the poor victims of Katrina ( ANOTHER PHOTO OP) #2 Katrina past by and they didn't get to "show" how patriotic they were #3 Along come IKE two weeks later Did they SUSPEND ANYTHING-----NO did they all run down there and show how Patriotic they were and help the victims -----NO #4 Now he come along and wants to DODGE the debates saying I'm so Patriotic I'd suspend my campaign for the people of America HORSE HOCKEY HE IS AFRAID to debate OBAMA BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE WAS PARTLY THE CAUSE of the FINANCIAL MELTDOWN by preaching constantly We MUST DEREGULATE the financial institutions !! If SARAH PALIN is SO qualified and JOHN SO BUSY why doesn't she do what a V.P. would do in case of an EMERGENCY and step in and assume THAT DUTY !!! SHE SHROUDS herself with secrecy, not letting the public VETT her any more than McCain did!! NOW McCain hides from us too !! QUITE A PAIR At least they TALK REAL BRAVE
  5. It is all a ploy. He is on no committees having to do with this. He didn't suddenly go back. He did an interview with Couric and a couple other things. It's almost embarrassing the way he has handed this election to Obama.
  6. If McCain going to washington to the senate is grandstanding, then why did Obama go after he said he wouldnt>?
  7. Yes. His campaign surrogates are saying suspending his presidential campaign and postponing Friday's debateit's a typical "maverick" move, that McCain is simply "putting country first." Here are the facts: 1) McCain doesn't like the way this campaign is going. ... The only thing that's changed in the last 48 hours is the public polling. 2) The idea of uniting the campaigns to find a bipartisan solution to the Wall Street crisis wasn't even McCain's idea. It was Obama’s to begin with.. 3) John McCain has skipped more votes during this session than any member of the Senate except for Tim Johnson, who had major brain surgery. All of a sudden, McCain demands that the presidential race shut down so he can return to Washington. 4) For all of his sudden urgency, McCain acknowledged just teusdaythat he had not even read the administration's three-page bailout proposal.
  8. Personally I think it's an attempt to show all of us that he's "above politics" because both of them have been criticized for not doing their actual jobs this year since they've been campaigning all the time. So he's showing that he's putting his job ahead of the campaign. The thing is, McCain needs the debates, since that plays to his strong suit (policy). And the media who's for Obama will spin it to sound like McCain's somehow "evil" for doing this, so he won't benefit so much.
  9. It is ridiculous. Did he get an overnight degree in economics while he was sleeping! The correct thing to do is exactly what Obama proposed, which is make a united statement to both sides with specific proposals to address the most pressing issue, and leave partisan issues out of it for now. What is McCain going to do, ride in on a white horse and correct everything? To assume so is ignorance personified. I am tired of McCain's avoidance techniques, first with Palin and now him. Who wants a president who can't handle more than 1 issue at a time? What is he going to do, shut the white house down every time something crops up?
  10. Obama can't bring a damn thing to the table, he's a pleeb. McCain is showing leadership, Obama is simply trolling around in McCains shadow.
